Stop by the Mining and Mineral displays at the annual El Dorado County Fair to explore over 30 display cases exhibiting rocks, minerals, faceted gems, jewelry, beads, fluorescent minerals, fossils, petrified wood, geodes, lapidary material, and equipment. There is always something new to see and learn about.
Visiting the fair is a great opportunity to learn about the El Dorado County Mineral and Gem Society and to meet some of our members. Members of the Society oversee the exhibits and talk to Fairgoers about Rocks, Mining and Minerals. The Society provides several educational exhibits each year featuring Rocks, Minerals, Fossils, and information about El Dorado County Geological and Mining History. For a small donation, you can pick up a hand-made Grab Bag, that features a variety of rock treasures. Donations from the grab bags go towards our Education and Scholarship Program.
