Who We Are

The El Dorado County Mineral and Gem Society is located in the Sierra Foothills, and we have members from within the county as well as from several surrounding counties. The Society was founded in 1949 to promote the scientific and appreciation of rocks and minerals, to learn and perpetuate the lapidary arts, and to increase the knowledge of members and the community in earth sciences and lapidary arts. Today the El Dorado County Mineral and Gem Society is one of the largest mineral and gem societies in the area.

Monthly Meeting

The Society holds monthly meetings – which are open to the public – on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
